The FlipMic app
FlipMic does not record, process, or upload audio. It never opens an audio stream, so macOS never asks it for microphone permission. It changes which devices are the macOS system defaults — nothing in your audio passes through it.
The app makes no network calls, has no telemetry, and requires no account.
What the app stores on your Mac
FlipMic keeps its settings locally on your Mac, like any macOS app’s preferences:
- Your input and output priority lists (device identifiers and names).
- The guard toggles for each direction and the Launch at Login preference.
- The most recent automatic switch, so the app can show its current status.
This data stays on your Mac. Removing the app stops FlipMic; macOS may retain its saved preferences.
FlipMic checks our update feed once a day using Sparkle. This makes a normal HTTPS request to our Cloudflare download service, which can receive the request IP address and user agent. Sparkle’s optional system profiling is disabled, and the check does not include your audio, device list, name, or email address. You can turn automatic checks off in FlipMic Settings.
This website
flipmic.com is a static site. We use PostHog Cloud US for limited, cookieless audience measurement so we can understand which pages are useful and which pages lead people to checkout.
PostHog receives page views and page exits, the referring page, basic browser and device information, and clicks on links to our Stripe checkout. We do not send names, email addresses, payment details, form contents, or audio. We have disabled automatic interaction capture, person profiles, exception capture, and session replay.
This analytics mode does not write cookies, local storage, or session storage in your browser. PostHog uses the request IP address, user agent, and hostname to calculate an irreversible identifier with a salt that changes daily, then strips the IP address before processing the event. This means visitors cannot be followed across days and geographic enrichment is unavailable. See PostHog’s privacy information.
There are no advertising trackers. Other third parties are involved only where noted:
- Hosting. The site is served by Vercel, and the download endpoint runs on Cloudflare. As with any web host, serving pages involves standard request logs (such as IP address and requested URL) processed by those providers.
- Fonts. Pages load two typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google’s servers.
Checkout and delivery
Purchases are processed by Stripe, not by us. Stripe collects the information needed to process payment — such as your email address, payment details, and billing information — under Stripe’s privacy policy. We do not see or store your payment card details.
After a successful checkout you’re redirected to our download service, which confirms with Stripe that your checkout session is paid before delivering the app. That verification uses your checkout session reference; it does not add tracking to your download.

If you email hello@flipmic.com, we receive what you send and use it to help you. We ask that you never send audio recordings or private conversation content — support never needs them.
