Install FlipMic.

From checkout to a working priority list in a few minutes. The universal download supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 13 or later.

From purchase to download

When your Stripe checkout completes, you’re redirected to a secure download page that delivers the FlipMic disk image (a .dmg file). The download is tied to your purchase — if you close the tab before the download starts, use the link in your Stripe receipt email or contact support with your receipt and we’ll get you the download.

Signed and notarized

Every FlipMic build is signed with an Apple Developer ID certificate and submitted to Apple’s notary service, which checks it before it ships. macOS verifies both when you first open the app, so Gatekeeper can confirm the app is exactly what we published and hasn’t been tampered with.

Install steps

  1. Open the downloaded disk image.Double-click FlipMic.dmg in your Downloads folder.
  2. Move FlipMic to Applications.Drag the FlipMic icon into your Applications folder, then eject the disk image.
  3. Launch FlipMic.Open it from Applications. macOS will confirm it’s an app downloaded from the internet — click Open. FlipMic appears as a waveform icon in your menu bar; it has no Dock icon.
  4. Open Settings and rank your devices.Click the menu bar icon, open Settings…, choose Input or Output, add your connected devices, and arrange them from highest to lowest priority. Leave the guard toggle on for each direction you want managed; leave a list empty to keep FlipMic hands-off in that direction.
  5. Enable Launch at Login.Turn it on in FlipMic’s settings so your priorities are enforced from the moment your Mac starts.

If macOS won’t open the app

FlipMic is notarized, so Gatekeeper should open it normally. If macOS reports that the app can’t be opened or appears damaged:

  • Make sure the download finished completely — a partial .dmg can fail verification. Re-download and try again.
  • Make sure you dragged FlipMic to Applications and are launching that copy, not the one inside the mounted disk image.
  • If it still won’t open, stop there and contact support with the exact message you see. Don’t disable Gatekeeper or bypass macOS security warnings to install FlipMic — a correct build opens without that, and we’d rather fix the actual problem.
